i used to sell MINI’s and had the great pleasure of meeting really interesting people every day. on one such occasion, a DMN turned L.A. Times photojournalist, Damon Winter, happened into the dealership with a friend of his.
Sen. Barak Obama by Damon Winter, New York Times
there was an article about him in Communication Arts at the time and i was just beginning to think my photography could actually earn me money (i’m not sure if the Relevant cover had happened yet or not), so getting to have a conversation with him was a pretty big deal for me.
right after he left the dealership, i hopped onto his website and was promptly blown away; in the process i was introduced to the work of Allison V. Smith, on who’s blog I found a link to this body of brilliant work by DMN turned L.A. Times turned N.Y. Times photojournalist, Damon Winter.
it seemed like a much bigger deal when i conceived the entry.
but, please, if you do nothing else while on the internet today, go check out Damon’s work from the campaign trail; whatever your feelings on politics, this race or Sen. Obama, his images are beyond brilliant. make sure you select full screen and have the sound turned up.

Great work. What a cool gig that would be.
Great post… thank you.
ever since Al told me about your blog – i have tried to keep up and really admire your work, and your eye. i like it because you don’t just take a picture – you capture a moment (wow, that sounded cheese-bag). thank you for sharing this link as well – really amazing shots.
